Disappointing; an Incomplete Text

English readers should bypass this edition. It lacks the second section of MAXIMS included in Phillips' ROOTS OF STRATEGY. The addition of the notes by William E. Cairns are inadequate compensation. The introduction provides no information at all about the history of the MAXIMS, how they were gathered, when they were first published, and by whom.

Good for what it is

Good copy of Napoleon's Military Maxims, at a decent price. All the maxims are pretty good for wargamers, and one could do worse. Makes an excellent companion piece to Frederick the Great's Instructions.
