Not worth buying

The reviews on this page are misleading. Most of the positive reviews refer to the original book "Shepherding a Child's Heart", not this leader's guide. This guide is only a series of review questions on the original book. There is no new information, no summaries, no tips on how to lead a small group on the material, etc. The original book is good and makes for a good group study, but a better resource for group study is "Shepherding a Child's Heart: Parent's Guide"--it has chapter summaries, additional verses to look up and discuss, review and application questions, and more for each chapter. In addition, this book (leader's guide)--is not edited, the edition I received still had editor's notes in the text like "need page number reference". So don't bother buying this one.

Reviewing the "Leader's Guide" for Shepherding a Child's Heart

I got the leader's guide because I run a small group through my church and I hoped the guide would have some great questions for book club interaction. However, I found that the guide is more like a study guide - it asks questions about key points about the chapter, and then gives you the "answer," in case you got the question wrong! It's as if you were preparing to take an exam on the book! It is TERRIBLE! I don't know what the author or the publishers were thinking. By all means, do NOT purchase this item!!

Great guidance for parents

This book has been recommended to me by many people for several years. Now that I have finally read it, I will be recommending it to any parent who wants to raise their children in a Biblical, God-centered way. Tripp is straight forward, honest, and convicting in his assessment of common mistakes we all make with our children, and offers alternatives based on scripture. It encourages one to really think about what we are training our children by how we are training them. It would be a really good book study for a small group, but it also very helpful for an individual to read.
