A small minded western look at a liberal eastern religion.

The title of this book would more appropriately be "The Saktas, A biased and predjudiced slamming". The author is constantly refering to tantric practices as "revolting" and "disgusting". The book was written by an early British colonialist, and its authorship is aparent in every sentence. I do not understandy why, if he felt this way, did he take the time to write the book.

A useful survey

This is a wothwhile survey of some literature that could have remained hidden otherwise. Some of the author's aesthetic judgments are lacking in the clinical objectivity that might be desired, but publication of a book like this in 1933 Britain may not have been possible otherwise. If you look past the rhetoric, you can learn something from this book.
